Music For Life

Music For Life (MFL) is Ackerman’s Music Center’s outsource band and orchestral program. The program is designed to enable a teaching institution to quickly and professionally create a Music Department by supplying experienced teachers who will provide individual and ensemble training in various musical instruments including Brass, Woodwinds, Strings, Guitars & Percussion.  MFL can also customize a program to suit individual needs.

Because of the academic nature of the school environment, MFL insists that all its students be taught to read music as well as learn repertoire. Learning to read music is a fundamental skill that has been shown to increase SAT scores 50 –150 points.
No other extracurricular discipline has been demonstrated to accomplish this. In addition the presence of a band or orchestra program only serves to enhance the reputation of a learning institution by providing a cultural outlet representative of a top-notch academic program.

MFL offers a variety of flexible plans depending on the individual needs of the institution. Parents pay tuition to MFL and a schedule is set up with the school for a group lesson and an ensemble class at the school.  This approach has become very popular with parents as MFL provides a productive, during the school day or an after school activity that benefits the children, the school, and the parents
